About NV 5210 and how to implement the program
It can be difficult to eat healthy, consistent meals and get 10,000 steps in a day, especially considering how many people have full-time desk jobs and work remotely. We hear you—and that’s why we want to help Nevadans make incremental lifestyle changes to support better physical and mental health. Whether you’re at the office, on the go, or working remotely, you have the power to make healthy choices.
The NV 5-2-1-0 Program for adults—inspired by the MaineHealth Small Steps Program—simplifies healthy living into four key messages:
- 5 – Eat 5+ servings of fruits and vegetables
- 2 – Limit recreational screen time to 2 hours or less
- 1 – Participate in 1 hour or more of physical activity
- 0 – Consume 0 sugary drinks, and prioritize water
Integrating these principles into your daily routine can be as simple as taking short walks, choosing nutritious foods, staying hydrated, and prioritizing rest. Small changes, like incorporating walking breaks into your day or opting for snacks low in added sugars, can make a big difference.
